At this year's annual Technology Marketing Toolkit Conference,
the DigeTekS team had the unexpected privilege of learning from none other than
Dr. Phil. While best known for his work on TV, Dr. Phil's roots in litigation
and leadership offered powerful insights—especially for those of us in the MSP
space.
One message hit us hard:
"You have to believe in what you're doing with a passion."
Whether you're leading a tech team, guiding a client through
compliance, or troubleshooting a stubborn firewall, authenticity matters.
Clients can spot when you're just going through the motions. So can your team.
He reminded us that every individual is a "company of
one." What are you presenting? What makes you different from the MSP next
door? If you can't clearly define your unique value—internally and
externally—you're not really in business yet.
He also said:
"No matter what you do, someone will have a problem with it. So you might as
well do what the hell you want. At least be your own best friend."
In an industry where everyone has an opinion on the "best
stack," the "right backup solution," or whether AI is a friend or foe—it's
critical that we own our decisions, stand on what we believe, and
lead with conviction.
